3 Minute Stump Speech - Ralph Rebandt For Governor

3 Minute Stump Speech

In this short video Ralph Rebandt (candidate for Michigan governor) is on stage with Pastor Phil Smith and Bernadette Smith on August 20, 2021 at the DeVos Place in Grand Rapids. Ralph played a short excerpt from the 1964 song Turn, Turn, Turn - by the Byrds. "A time to be born, a time to die; a time to plant, a time to reap; a time to kill, a time to heal; a time to laugh, a time to weep... a time to every purpose, under heaven."

Ralph explained that on January 21st, 1776 a clergyman named John Peter Muhlenberg preached a sermon from that same text in Ecclesiastes. He explained that there is "a time to be born, a time to die, a time for war, and a time for peace." After Muhlenberg preached his sermon he took off his clerical robe and revealed that underneath he was wearing a revolutionary war military uniform. He said: "Who is going with me?"

Rebandt concluded his short talk by saying: "We will never fix this country unless we fix this state. We will never fix this state, unless you fix the city. We will never fix the city, unless you fix the neighborhood. We will never fix the neighborhood until we fix the people in the neighborhood... I've seen God do amazing things. Who is going with me?"
